A couple of years ago I came across the work of a Japanese Artist called Shintaro Kago who drew these immense pictures of exploding bodies with masses of items spilling neatly out of the biological fractures.
I decided I wanted to do a homage to his work, this is the result.
I recently saw Mark Gattis's a History of Horror which was a totally fascinating overview of the Horror movie genre.
In the second episode he covered the Hammer films and I got to hear about two old movies I had never heard of but both of which look like absolute Blinders the First was BLACK SUNDAY and the second was BLOOD ON SATANS CLAW which sounded real dark, I was amused to see a little cameo by Betty Frank Spencers wife.
This was inspired by its title and ROSEMARYS BABY as the original title for this piece was "He has his Fathers eyes."
I put one of my crass dodgy jokes up on Facebook as an update a few weeks back and then had a barrage of equally bad ones followed as comments afterwards and there was a corker left by my Mucker SweetP involving Batman and the Boy Wonder that I had never heard before even though it must be as old as The Dark knight himself, so I gave it Flesh and Ink and turned into a 3 panel strip.
The joke is contained in the first two panels and the final Alfred one one is all me just to round it off nicely!
No doubt this will endear me no end with any D.C editorial staff if they ever happen to stumble across it!
Only just got round to inking this, did the pencils for this when the original Tim Burton Movie came out in 1989, it did have some rather puny looking mugger up to no good in the foreground so I stripped him out and added most of the classic villians.
Found these two beauties coloured by Young Dave West in my inbox this morning.
Fresh scenes of the Martian Engineers/Monks from Stephensons Robot.
Dave and Jon Ayre want a three page intro for the back up story featuring these guys each issue, all that they told me is that they are Robots, they are on Mars and they are descended from Kingdom and thats it...they then leave me alone to dream the rest of it into existance, letting me riff on all things Mars related real and fictional... its an absolute treat!
Here we see Weird and Gilly traversing the Martian skies in a hybrid of a Pedallo and a VERY famous submersible.
I was a massive Slaine fan back in the Eighties before it went full colour and, quite frankly, a bit Poo and I always liked the druids as drawn by the Mighty Mike McMahon and Massimo Bellardinelli especially SLOUGH FEG so I decided to do a version of him ,not quite nailed it but I think Im going to have another pop at drawing him again sometime soon.
A sneaky preview from issue 2 of Stephensons Robot. Here we see Brunel and Stephenson visiting Charles Babbage and his difference engine. Babbage wasnt just the Grandaddy of computing he was also a pioneer in the battle against noise pollution which led local organ grinders to gather outside his property with the express intention of pissing him off, hence the scene where he clouts that chappy round the head with part of his library. Bottom panel features Stephenson trying out a remote viewing device.
I planned and began a graphic novel called Kingdom of the back in 2004, it was going to be fifty or so pages long and encapsulate everything I love about Sci/fi, Horror & Monster movies and Comic books.
Heres the Villian, Doctor Donald Severin ...Science Pirate , Horribly deformed survivor, Interdimensional technology thief and all round Bad Egg!
